Many ClimateTech and deep-tech founders discover that turning a technically credible idea into a commercially viable business introduces an entirely new set of challenges. Customer validation, product-market fit, strategic positioning, technoeconomic credibility, and early partnership development often become major obstacles long before the underlying engineering is fully mature.
My advisory approach is grounded not only in commercialization strategy, but in direct in-house operational and commercial experience working across ClimateTech, CleanTech, industrial technology, engineering services, defense-related technologies, and technical intelligence businesses. Over the past 25 years, I have worked inside venture-backed startups, engineering-led technology companies, industrial utilities, and B2B technology businesses operating across multiple sectors and commercialization models.
To support innovators at different stages of that journey, I offer two engagement models designed to create clarity, reduce risk, and provide practical strategic support aligned to your organization’s needs
The Creators Workshop is designed as a focused, low-risk entry point for founders and leadership teams seeking strategic clarity around technical and commercial challenges. Following an initial consultation and preliminary information exchange, I develop a tailored one-day working session delivered at your offices and built around your specific technology, commercialization objectives, and organizational priorities.
Together, we work through a structured agenda focused on commercialization pathways, market positioning, technical-market alignment, customer validation, strategic friction points, and decision-making priorities. The workshop is designed to help founders identify the operational, technical, and commercial challenges most likely to influence successful commercialization.
Following the workshop, I coordinate a review session and provide actionable findings, observations, and recommended next steps. For many organizations, the workshop also provides an opportunity to evaluate alignment, communication style, and working chemistry before considering a longer-term advisory relationship.
For founders, innovators, and technical creators requiring longer-term strategic support, The Creators Advisory Service provides ongoing access to experienced technical-commercial advisory guidance tailored to your evolving needs. The retained advisory model is designed to provide continuity, strategic clarity, and commercially grounded decision support as technical and operational challenges evolve over time.
Unlike a single workshop engagement, the advisory relationship allows for a deeper understanding of your technology, commercialization strategy, leadership dynamics, and long-term objectives — creating more effective and context-aware strategic support over time.
Support can range from participation in weekly leadership meetings to confidential 1:1 founder advisory support for executives navigating technical, commercial, and operational decision-making. Engagement structures are customized around the cadence, level of involvement, and strategic priorities most relevant to your stage of growth and commercialization journey.
One of the fastest ways to accelerate commercialization is to avoid relearning expensive lessons that others have already experienced firsthand. I have worked inside venture-backed Climate-Tech and deep-tech companies attempting to turn difficult science into commercially viable products. Across algae biofuels, marine sensing systems, environmental technologies, and wave-powered desalination, I learned early that technical success alone rarely determines commercial success. Customer-facing pilot demonstrations quickly expose the realities of systems integration, operational reliability, economics, logistics, stakeholder alignment, and customer confidence.
I have led R&D and product-development programs, designed commercialization-focused technology roadmaps, secured and managed innovation funding, built strategic partnerships, and helped align product-market fit around real-world customer needs. My roles have spanned both technical and commercial leadership responsibilities — from building scientific and engineering teams from zero to more than forty staff, to managing investor expectations, board reporting, pilot deployments, customer engagement, and commercialization planning across the North America and Europe.
I have been involved with a number of successful commercialization programs — and some frustrating failures. Through those experiences, I learned that successful commercialization requires far more than technical innovation alone. My advisory work focuses on helping founders and technical creators test commercial reality early, reduce avoidable risk, align technology development with real market needs, and navigate the difficult transition between invention, pilot deployment, and scalable market adoption.
